CPM 10V

CPM 10V has a large volume (16%) of small MC-type vanadium carbides. Since the carbides are harder than conventional abrasives this steel is very difficult to sharpen on non-diamond stones. If you are interested in more information on this steel I have covered it on my Instagram as part of my ongoing Steel Saturday series!

CPM 10V is a powder metallurgy high vanadium steel that offers a significant step up in wear resistance over CPM M4. CPM 10V is a great choice for those who want a high wear resistance steel and don’t intend to use the knife for heavy chopping. CPM 10V has low toughness although it is still well within the range of steels like 26c3. However on hard cutting surfaces it can exhibit edge microchipping which will reduce the edge retention. I heat-treat CPM 10V to 65Rc.
