CPM MagnaCut

CPM MagnaCut contains a moderate volume of MC-type vanadium and niobium carbides. While CPM MagnaCut can be sharpened on conventional stones. However, due to the hardness of the carbides it benefits from diamond abrasives. CPM MagnaCut is a cutting-edge powder metallurgy stainless steel developed in 2021 for use in knives by Dr. Larrin Thomas. CPM MagnaCut offers a great balance of wear resistance and toughness. Its chemical balance leads to a very fine microstructure that consists entirely of MC-type carbides with all of its chromium being held in the matrix. Due to this CPM MagnaCut has good edge stability and excellent corrosion resistance. CPM MagnaCut is a good choice for all-around workhorse knives for those with access to diamond abrasives. I harden CPM MagnaCut to between 62 and 65 Rc depending on the desired characteristics.
